Neat trick of the day: Automatically registering additional DNS names on a Windows Box

Today I learned about this command

netdom computername (thenameofyourcomputer) /add

This writes the following in the registry
Name: "AlternateComputerNames"

It lets you register additional dynamic DNS names for a given host.

As a system administrator I think this is really handy, as I can use it to create automatically registered aliases like "Webmail" and "VDI".

As a hacker, err... applied computer security specialist, I appreciate the capability to create new DNS names for internal phishing attacks.

The sword has two sides.

Tiny Robot Army #2 Ardunio-Robosapien

I got a Wowwee Robosapien at Goodwill for $3 today.  (And a cute purse too.)

Unfortunately he didn't come with a remote :(  (Boo, Sad!) So I gave him a little Arduino Backpack that sends him commands!  (Yeah!)

Now he studiously marches in circles in the living room, striking terror in the heart of all who dare approach.  Just a few thousand more and we can take over the world!

... I'd like to get a Wifi shield for him I can send commands remotely or if with a RPi I can add a camera and 802.11G too.  The possibilities are endless!

Also I must consider how to arm him properly.

This site was particularly helpful with this.
